COVID-19 Testing in Homelessness Settings
Homelessness settings continue to be eligible for free COVID-19 tests and guidance can be found here. Settings are asked to set up a Unique Organisation Number (UON) here and then use this to order tests here. If you have any questions please contact the department at homelessness.testing@levellingup.gov.uk.
COVID-19 autumn boosters and flu vaccine
Further to JCVI guidance published in August, everyone aged 50 and over is currently able to receive a COVID-19 booster and a flu jab. Many people who are homeless are either at increased risk or are in close contact with someone who is immunosuppressed or has a health condition which makes them vulnerable, meaning they are eligible for the autumn booster under current guidance.
Frontline social care workers continue to be eligible for the COVID-19 booster vaccine and flu vaccines. Social care workers have been defined by the NHS as individuals “working with vulnerable people who need care and support”. People working on the frontline to support those in inclusion health groups, such as people experiencing homelessness, meet this definition and are encouraged to take up the offer of vaccination to protect themselves and the vulnerable communities they serve this winter.
