Using a range of training methods, this 2-day course is a creative, fun and in-depth chance to explore how to deliver one of the biggest innovations to enter the sector in decades.
This course has been developed by Homeless Link’s Housing First England project with learning obtained from experts across the Housing First Europe network.

What will you learn?
Day 1 provides delegates with a solid understanding of Housing First, bringing a frontline focus to our Introduction to Housing First course. It will:
- Provide you with an introduction to the history of Housing First and international and national use
- Ensure you fully understand the principles of Housing First and why they’re important
- Provide you with information around housing and tenancy rights
- Enable you to discuss the challenges in implementing the principles in practice including ethical dilemmas that may arise
- Ensure you know where to go for more information
Day 2 provides a chance to delve deeper into the principles and philosophy of Housing First with an aim of shifting mindset and improving practice. It will:
- Use research and theory relating to trauma and psychology, to increase your understanding of service beneficiaries and why the principles are so effective
- Provide you with information about vicarious trauma and how to look after yourself and others
- Understand what the principles look like in practice and the challenges of supporting people to move from being homeless to having a home
- Ensure you know where to go for more information

Face to face: Two-day course
Online: Six 1.5 hour modules delivered over two days, three modules per day
Costs for two full-days face to face course or six 1.5 hour online modules
This course can be booked for a team of up to 16 for face to face training or up to 20 for online training
