Why is this programme needed?
Non-UK nationals represent around half of the people seen rough sleeping in London. The complexity of immigration law can lead to difficulties in understanding and evidencing both the immigration status and entitlements of rough sleepers. However, knowing how to do this is crucial for finding lasting solutions to homelessness.
To better support non-UK nationals in the captial, homelessness charities need staff who understand the rights of non-UK nationals and can provide comprehensive support, including referrals to immigration advisers. It's also important for the immigration and homelessness sectors to work together better, understanding each other's challenges in supporting rough sleepers.
Who is this programme for?
- London-based Frontline workers from the homelessness sector who support non-UK nationals experiencing homelessness.
- London-based Frontline workers from the migrant sector
- London-based Immigration Solicitors
- London-based Local Authority staff
